Meet the Class

Maria Soliman
Where will you be in school next year?
William Fremd H.S.
How many years have you been in S.C.A.R.F.?
1
What are you most looking forward to by participating in the S.C.A.R.F. Program this year?
By joining the SCARF program, I would like to gain knowledge about how the heart works, but more specifically if there are any reasons that lead to Sudden Cardiac Death. I have a lot of questions that go through my mind about the specifics of cardiology such as
whether there is a family history of Sudden Cardiac
Death, what tests can be done to screen for potential issues and what actions can be taken to prevent it. When I read about this program, I knew that this is the
program that can answer all of my questions. I will gain a lot of knowledge through the observation of doctors and nurses practitioners in clinics but also through watching and listening to lectures. Not only would I love to learn about cardiology but I would also like to meet
new peers that will join this program and go through it together so that we raise awareness as a team. In this program, I will be surrounded by knowledgeable doctors
that will share their experiences with me and will be a great resource for me to ask them questions. Lastly, this program will most definitely help me give back to my community by dedicating my time over the summer to it and by working with other people towards one goal, learning and raising awareness about Sudden
Cardiac Death.
What do you want people to remember about you?
In the words of Muhammad Ali, I'd like for people to say "he took a few cups of love, he took one tablespoon of patience, teaspoon of generosity, one pint of kindness. He took one quart of laughter, one pinch of concern, and then, he mix willingness with happiness, he added lots of faith, and he stirred it up well, then he spreads it over his span of a lifetime, and he served it to each and every deserving person he met."
