Meet the Class

Chloe Patel
Where will you be in school next year?
Elgin H.S.
How many years have you been in S.C.A.R.F.?
1
What are you most looking forward to by participating in the S.C.A.R.F. Program this year?
I would firstly like to gain more knowledge about
sudden cardiac arrest and ways to identify if someone could have it in the future. While I could simply search up information on Google, I feel as if that is not always
the correct way (as much of what is put on the internet can be false). I personally feel as if it would be more beneficial to learn from healthcare professionals who
have been trained their entire careers to know
everything about the topic. I know that I would be able to retain more, correct information by learning it from the licensed physicians and specialists at this program.
Additionally, I would like to gain hands-on clinical
experience from this program that I would be unable to gain otherwise. I feel that the experience gained from hands-on work would be beneficial in helping me decide
on a career in the medical field (one that is more
centered around lab/hands-on clinical work, one that is
more centered around patient consultations, etc.). Finally, I want to learn more about topics such as financial literacy, and fine tune skills such as the ability to interview, and the ability to network/connect with
others. Based on information I learned about this program from my friends who attended the 2024 summer session, I know I would be able to gain important knowledge on career building skills, as well as medical information about heart diseases.
What do you want people to remember about you?
I want to be remembered as someone who is always there for other people and willing to help anyone who needs it.
