Where will you be in school next year?
Conant H.S.
How many years have you been in S.C.A.R.F.?

What are you most looking forward to by participating in the S.C.A.R.F. Program this year?
To this day, my exposure to the medical field has
primarily been through the classes I’ve taken and the extracurricular clubs I’ve joined. Cutting poster board, ordering pipettes and medicine bottles from Amazon, and constructing a fake pair of paper lungs aren’t truly successful at simulating doctor-patient care and interactions. Programs like HOSA offer a glimpse into the healthcare field through events like Health Career Display, which I will be competing in at the state level soon. However, these activities lack the depth and authenticity that the SCARF program provides through real-world experiences. Being able to observe procedures up close, or witness interactions between doctors and patients, introduces an entirely new yet significant part of healthcare that I have yet to experience. Having the opportunity to do so in SCARF is invaluable. However, healthcare goes deeper than technical
knowledge of the field, requiring doctors to have a deep understanding of emotional and physical intelligence. More than anything, what drew me to the field was doctors’ ability to not only save lives but to have a
profound impact on them through empathy and
compassion. Their ability to do good within their
community by connecting with their patients sets
medicine apart from other careers and is what truly
opened my eyes to the vast possibilities that healthcare offers. The SCARF program provides opportunities to foster such interpersonal skills while simultaneously
providing experience in the medical field to help
people, making this a unique opportunity. I aim to utilize SCARF’s resources to enhance my skills and by doing so, make a meaningful difference in my community.
What do you want people to remember about you?
I want people to remember that I am considerate and caring.
