Meet the Class

Aleena Patel
Where will you be in school next year?
Rolling Meadows H.S.
How many years have you been in S.C.A.R.F.?
2
What are you most looking forward to by participating in the S.C.A.R.F. Program this year?
The SCARF program has and will continue to build my confidence in professional settings. I hope to gain from
this opportunity by further growing in three key areas: Interviewing skills, a deeper understanding of the medical field, and teamwork towards a shared passion for healthcare. Interviewing skills are necessary throughout a
healthcare professional's career, and the practice that SCARF provides will advance my preparedness. The
mock interview day conducted last year was extremely beneficial to my critical thinking skills as it forced me to deliver strong answers spontaneously.
Returning to SCARF in 2025 will enhance my
appreciation and understanding of medicine. The chance to shadow Dr. Nguyen and numerous other
healthcare professionals will help me solidify my choice to pursue medicine in college. I appreciate that SCARF provides me the unique opportunity to explore the medical field further while simultaneously giving me
the possibility to observe how to conduct care for
patients. I grew so much from the team aspect of the research project I conducted last year and I am looking forward to studying a new topic. Our collective efforts in
researching how machine learning can be used as a
tool in the risk detection of sudden cardiac death led to earning first place. It was meaningful to see that our diverse skill sets resulted in our innovative approach. I want to continue to foster this sense of community and
shared learning that deepens our connection to helping others.
What do you want people to remember about you?
I want them to remember that I'll always be the person that has their back and will do the most for them, even when they don't always do the most for me.
