Meet the Class
Where will you be in school next year?
Senior at Augustana College
How many years have you been in S.C.A.R.F.?
What made you want to join S.C.A.R.F.?
I wanted to join SCARF because I knew it was a program devoted to critical thinking, higher education, and teamwork. I knew I would be able to strengthen my skills here, develop new skills, and most importantly, serve the community. Philanthropy is very important to me as I should give back to the community that has already given so much to me. In the past two years that I have been part of SCARF, I have grown tremendously in knowledge, interpersonal skills, and service— all qualities that I know will prepare me for my professional career and equip me to be the best physician I can be.
What are you hoping to get out of S.C.A.R.F. this year?
This year in SCARF, I’m hoping to take on a different role than I have in the past as a returning third year student. I wish to continually develop and improve my research and public speaking skills, but I ultimately want to take the valuables I’ve learned in SCARF the past two years and apply them in a new, different way than I have in the past. I’m very excited for the program this year and I’m ready to be challenged and rise up to be a student, leader, and public educator!
What's a fun fact about you?
At Augustana, I am part of a club called Búhos which serves the Hispanic population in the area by offering free ESL courses. We have lots of fun with our students and get to serve them in a unique way!
