What are you most looking forward to by participating in the S.C.A.R.F. Program this year?
This summer, I am excited to learn more about the field of healthcare and how doctor-patient interactions occur. I'm also hoping to learn more about cardiac health and specifically about prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
What's a fun fact about you?
My favorite book that I've read recently is called Gang Leader for a Day. It is written by a sociology graduate student named Sudhir Venkatesh who was at the University of Chicago when he began documenting urban poverty, gangs, and more in the Robert Taylor Homes of Chicago. It's my favorite because of the unique perspective and storytelling Venkatesh provides; instead of analyzing data, he lives and stays in the housing projects he's documenting and talks to the people that are affected.
