Meet the Junior Board
Director of Student Activities
Rushang Mittal is an incoming freshman at Saint Louis University as a part of the Medical Scholars Program, an eight year BS/MD program. He joined S.C.A.R.F. as an intern during 2019, researching the effects of atrial fibrillation and exploring how to educate and inform the community on their risk factors. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Rushang served on the Clinical Content team and worked to maximize efficiency for on-call volunteers to access information regarding the virus. He became a group leader for the 2020 program, guiding incoming interns to connect with the 3 pillars of success and collaborating with his research team on exploring change after the pandemic and implementing new policies.
Rushang is elated to take on the role of Director of Student Affairs. Throughout his time at S.C.A.R.F, he found that teamwork and collaboration provided the most solid foundation for giving back to the community, and during his time as the Director of Student Affairs, Rushang hopes to include students in this process. Alongside maximizing student involvement within the S.C.A.R.F. Mentorship and Career Guidance Program, Rushang and his committee hope to branch out to local school districts to spread the word about S.C.A.R.F. and its support given at each level of education. Working with other junior boards, he hopes to launch an alumni network within S.C.A.R.F. Students’ experiences are fortified with perspective from role models, and Rushang looks forward to cultivating experiences that can create better leaders of tomorrow.
